Portsmouth Secondary School wins Secondary School girls Basketball whilst Dominica State College takes the boy's title. The Secondary Schools Basketball Festival ended on Friday with the second round of matches pulling the curtains down on the three days of basketball action. Eight matches were played, which included the semifinals, 3rd place and final of both the boys and girls categories. It was mixed results for the Portsmouth Secondary School and Dominica State College, Who contested the finals in both categories. The PSS young ladies secured the championship by defeating the DSC 27 - 10 and reminded their opponents that they are the reigning U20 Champs, having won the league title in 2021. Later the DSC young men sought to avenge their ladies' loss as well as the loss to the PSS A team in the preliminary round. At the end of the match the score line read 26 -14 in favor of DSC, thereby sharing the celebrations among the long Basketball rivals. The following are the other results leading up to the finals: Boys Semifinals PSS A vs SMA A 19 - 8 DSC vs PSS B 22 - 2 Bronze Medal Match PSS B vs SMA A 14 - 4 Girls Semifinals PSS vs WHS 35 - 0 DSC vs DGS 15 - 6 Bronze Medal Match DGS vs WHS 7 - 0 At hand to distribute the medals at the awards ceremony were the Sports Coordinator, Trevor Shillingford, and Youth Sports Officer Melissa Williams. In addition to the medals and championship trophies handed to the deserving athletes and teams, two athletes were also awarded for their standout performances in the finals.  Le-Myah Forde of the PSS and Mervon McIntyre of the DSC received the Final MVP trophy in the girls and boys categories, respectively.
