Long standing British visitor Gwendoline Fox celebrates 100th birthday in Barbados
She has been visiting the island for more than 50 years and often chooses to spend four months here each time she visits. The former air raid warden and telephonist during World War II attributes her longevity to visiting the island.

She was also joined by the officials from the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc who celebrated their one of the long-standing visitors.Fox was born and brought up in England but later migrated to Canada and has been visiting the island nation every winter, spending a minimum of three to four months every year.
The auspicious occasion was also joined by President Dame Sandra Prenella Mason who greeted Gwendoline’s entire family and presented her with flowers and a lovely birthday card.[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/C3VXMyzAVy6/[/embed]
Because of the long standing relationship of Gwendoline Fox with Barbados, the Chief Product Development Officer, Marsha Alleyne presented her with beautiful artwork which honours the Barbadian heritage.
She travelled for 24 hours and took three planes to come to Barbados which is quite a tough task for someone her age but she insisted her family that wants to celebrate this milestone in her second home.
Fox outlined, “It is quite incredible” on Tuesday and said that it was her experiences during her repeated visits to Barbados which contributed to her long and healthy life.
In addition to this, the centenarian also explained that she only decided to visit Barbados after her son Mike Fox said that she should make her milestone special.
Mike first had her vacation on the island in 1973 and subsequently his twin sisters wanted to visit for their 18th birthday celebrations and Gwendoline accompanied them and their friends. She has loved Barbados ever since and continued to visit over the time. During his visits to Barbados, Fox made several friends and many of them joined her and her family at the Barbados Yacht Club for a huge birthday party on Tuesday evening.Latest
