The wife of the assassinated Haitian president Jovenel Moise stated on Wednesday after a court hearing that she will not stop until his murderers are brought to justice.
Martine Moise met with the judge responsible for the investigation into Moise's death in July and said she answered questions for several hours.
In an impromptu statement from the court, she encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
"Everyone says we will not get justice in my country even if people tell me that. This is where I will start seeking justice," Moise said. "We will ask for justice in the morning, afternoon, at night, for I will not rest until I get justice."
More than 40 people have been captured in association with the killing, Haitian authorities said. However, it is still unclear who was the head of the operation and how they could gain access to the president's residence. Moise was murdered at home by a group of armed, well-trained mercenaries.
A crowd gathered outside the court in support of Moise and sang slogans against the interim Prime Minister Ariel Henry. Later, a fight burst out between followers of Moise and apostates.Moise recently completed a small tour through her homeland after a long absence after the murder.
"I do not wish it on anyone," Martine Moise stated. She said she had been married to Jovenel Moise for 25 years.
