Savitri Bholanauth, of No.62 Village, Corentyne Berbice, told the local media that her daughter, who attended the Tagore Memorial Secondary School, wrote 13 subjects during 2020, CSEC sitting at the said institution but has not received her results slip as yet and is questioning the delay.
Bholanauth disclosed that she made inquiries several times on behalf of her daughter, and she was given assurance by the principal of the secondary school, but to date, her daughter has never received any results.
"It's been a year now; when we go to the Headteacher, she keeps telling us, it will come, it will come; give us a few days," she said.
However, the frustrated mother continued to state that she contacted the Region Six Department of Education and was told that they were working to address the issue. Bholanauth said she also contacted the Ministry of Education (MoE) in Georgetown and was told that no results slip was there for her daughter.
"This year will be two years, and my daughter is without a job, and she is so frustrated," the mother added.
Meanwhile, Krisha Devi Sewlall, another mother, whose daughter also attended the same institution and wrote her CSEC examination, explained that when she inquired about her daughter's results slip, she was told conflicting stories."When my daughter went to collect her results, she didn't get it. When she came home, I asked her, where are your results and she said there was a mistake, that the teacher told them that he wrote on a form that he made a mistake with three of them, and he said it would come. We keep on waiting and waiting, all the time and there is no certificate, there is no slip, and the child get so confused," Sewall added.
Nonetheless, Sewall further said, "so the Headteacher called me recently, she said that the rest certificate come down in Georgetown, or somewhere but it does not distribute yet. When we do call again, she set, she calls the people, and dem see, their system pack up, which means she lies to me."
She concluded by adding that "she gets us a fool around and the pickney wants her certificate fuh further study. She wants to become a nurse, and without the original certificate, she cannot do anything."
The two mothers are calling on the relevant authorities to intervene urgently to address the issues.
In 2020 when CSEC results were released, several students were dissatisfied and made queries for a review of the results.
