Indian guests at Fort Young refuses involvement in Mehul Choksi case, warns of lawsuit against hotel, media

Roseau, Dominica: Mehul Choksi's arrest in Dominica comes up with new angles every day; his lawyers continue to push the story that he was abducted through a joint operation carried out by Antiguan and Indian agencies.

Recently, the manager of Fort Young Hotel in Dominica also stated that two Indians stayed at the hotel last week.

WIC News Correspondent in Dominica, through his sources, connected to the alleged Indians in question, and they stated that they have a long record of their business-related visits to Dominica and other Caribbean islands. They emphasized that they are businessmen looking out to contribute to the country's economy through import and export and have also done in the recent past.

WIC News is not authorized to reveal names of those two Fort Young guests; however, they, on condition of anonymity, also stated that they share no connection with Mehul Choksi, nor did they know him by any means. The people in question said they would file a lawsuit against the hotel and the media outlets for their reckless claims and conspiracy.

Mehul Choksi- an Indian fugitive and citizen of Antigua and Barbuda, had gone missing from Jolly Harbour, Antigua, on Sunday 23 May 2021. After his arrest in Dominica, Choksi's lawyers claimed their client was forcefully abducted by men who had Indian and Antiguan accents.

Lawyers also released photos of Choksi showing bruises on his arms and face.

Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne recently stated that the country doesn't want to take him back, and he must be extradited to India- where he is wanted in a USD2 billion fraud. Mehul Choksi took Antiguan citizenship under the Citizenship by Investment Programme in 2017; he has been residing there ever since. Indian authorities in 2018 started demanding his extradition. After being captured in Dominica, his lawyers filed a Habeas corpus plea and the court stayed his extradition to any country. The case will again be heard in the High Court of Justice, Dominica on June 2, 2021.
