Thursday, 5th September 2019

After the rescheduling of political event twice, the United Workers Party appears to be upset over the scenario. President of UWP Isaac Baptiste looked a discomposed as he spoke on a radio morning show.

Baptiste said that once again UWP had to postpone their meeting which was already been rescheduled from Thursday, August 29 to Thursday on September 5 due to natural catastrophe Dorian, while the party again have to shift event again as of police was unable to provide necessary arrangements for the peaceful execution of the event.

Using the medium of Radio Q95 FM, UWP President said “It was political directorate that caused us not to have a meeting because they feel that the crowd and attendance will be too massive.” But on the other side, it is said by political specialists that if an event is deferred more than once or twice, a large number of public participation will be affected.

UWP wrote to police seeking permission to host a march and a meeting for the 29th August, but due to inclement weather it was postponed as TS Dorian was approaching Dominica. Next date was scheduled to be September 5, yet it was likewise been rescheduled as police authorities will be occupied as higher security is required for football match between Dominica and Suriname at 3 pm in Windsor Park Sports Stadium.

He said that subsequent to getting the authorization disavowal letter from police for the March on Tuesday, the UWP delegation made it clear “We don’t see any conflict.” He said “At that meeting we explained to the police that we do not see the conflict between the football match to be played on Thursday and our planned activity, because our meeting will be starting no earlier than 6 pm and if necessary, we can even push it to 7 pm.”

Be that as it may, the police didn’t issue them permission to hold a march on September 5. The UWP leadership appears to be stressed as of in the next scheduled march and meeting people might show less in numbers, so the event can go disappointment for the opposition.

The meeting is now scheduled on Friday, August 6 at 6 pm in the evening.
