The wife of the Prime Minister of Dominica and the Parliament Representative from Roseau Central constituency Melissa Poponne Skerrit said the provision of housing is of utmost importance to me. In a Facebook post on Friday, Parliamentarian said she ensured that Roseau Central benefits from the Housing Revolution. "We have catered for varying housing needs including apartments, private homes and in the near future, condominiums." wrote Melissa Skerrit. Melissa Skerrit said the new apartment building at Upper River Bank is nearing completion, and the fifty-one new apartments and eight commercial spaces will become available before the end of the year. She said the new complex would include extra amenities such as shopping, parking and a children's play area. "We are now fast-tracking plans to build two additional apartment buildings in the Pound area," said Melissa Skerrit. Furthermore, she stated that as part of The BayFront Development, the government is considering this area for a high rise luxurious condominium with views of the Caribbean Sea, offering young professionals a rent-to-own option at an affordable price. She noted that during the last year, major work was done on eleven concrete buildings in the form of renovations or completely new structures, making them resilient and hurricane proof. Parliamentarian said the Foot Path Project also created better and safer access to homes through improved lighting and covering of exposed water pipes. Discussing the Culinary Tourism in Roseau Central, Melissa Skerrit said the visitors to the Old Market Plaza would be able to partake in a one-of-a-kind culinary tour coined 'Farm to Table'. "Travelers will select desired local produce, then sumptuous local meals with a fancy flair will be prepared by experienced Dominican chefs." wrote Melissa Skerrit, Parliament Representative from Roseau Central. She said plans for Roseau Central are geared towards creating a vibrant, modern city filled with opportunities for all. Mrs Skerrit said she has been working closely with the Minister of Tourism Denise Charles to develop a cruise village to welcome cruise ship passengers. Minister said the area would be transformed into a spectacular rainforest-themed restaurant, shopping and entertainment centre, which will offer a unique culinary tour. The newly renovated site will sport modern infrastructure and be home to brand new kiosks manned by the current vendors. She said the Kalinago and Creole culture would be on full display through cultural presentations, national wear and local crafts. "One should also note that additional entrepreneurs will also be given the opportunity to vend their products at this location," noted Mrs Skerrit.
