‘Wounding suspect’ caught and charged by Antigua-Barbuda police

A man wanted by police in Antigua and Barbuda after a woman was badly injured earlier this month has been arrested and charged.
Tony Thomas, 47 and a resident of Whenner Road, is accused of wounding with intent to murder.
Police believe the suspect, also known as ‘Scar’, attacked 44-year-old Laurie-Ann Hurst with a hammer at Ffryes Beach on Sunday, 6 August.
Following his initial court appearance yesterday he has been remanded in custody until October.
No official statements have been given about the victim’s condition but WIC News understands she was left with head injuries. Pictures from the scene show Hurst being helped by beachgoers.After the incident, Thomas went into hiding. Police released a wanted bulletin last week and captured the fugitive just before 6pm on Frida evening.
He was found in the Cashew Hill area attached to Bolans and Johnson’s Point police stations.
