Allen Chastanet
St Lucia: St Lucia is witnessing its election on the 26th of July, to know the nerves of people our team of WIC News goes on the ground and find out people's perspective in each constituency. Seat: Micoud South, leader: Allen Chastanet, Party: UWP

In our ground survey, sitting MP and Prime Minister Allen Chastanet might not secure his own seat this time. Our reporter observed enormous anti-incumbency on this seat, and people are very much dishearten with their own leader.

A constituency member, on condition of anonymity, told our reporter, " We had a lot of expectation from our leader, we also thought that as PM is from our constituency, would get some extra edge. But our expectations vanished out in the Caribbean sea. "

He added, " We tried a lot of time to contact our MP, but we were to meet him, and whenever we met, he behaved like we were beggars. "

Another resident noted a hard word said Allen Chastanet "cheated us ."

People are still struggling for basic needs and proper roads in this area.

With these factors, it doesn't seem easy to win from his constituency.

We witnessed some anger in the air against the current Member of Parliament on this seat.

Seat: Castries East, leader: Philip Pierre, Party: Saint Lucia Labour Party  In WIC News ground observation, prime ministerial candidate for SLP and current MP Castries East probably able to secure his seat and win with a good margin.

In our ground survey, our reporter found that although SLP was not in government being the main opposition leader, tried to do work at own capacity.

A resident of Castries East said, " Pierre, efforts we witnessed on the ground, and now he is the prime ministerial candidate, and we want some change as we are pissed of from our current Chastanet government ." Seat: Gros Islet, Leader: Lenard Montoute, Party: UWP

Lenard Montoute is a Member of Parliament from this constituency since 2006, and this year also he has seemed a bit strong support.

Our WIC News reporter felt that people from this constituency has close sentiment with his own leader as he is serving for a very long.

Former Athlete turns MP encouraged a lot not only his own constituency people but whole St Lucia too. This is one of the reasons which is seeing on the ground.

A resident of this constituency said, " We faced a lot of problems during hurricane time somehow our leader Montoute were there with us in a harsh time. Several times it has been seen that he fought for us against his own party government. "

Resident added, " He also take some vital steps in time of coronavirus too, but somehow we want to change in the country government, as we are really disappointed with current PM . "

Seat: Castries South Leader: Ernest Hilaire Party: SLP

WIC News, in its observation on this seat, felt that Ernest might win his seat without any much difficulty, as his work has felt in the eyes of people and the world.

Also, during his public meeting, to promised to give land ownership, and people took it very seriously.

A local resident said, " As we are hoping that SLP will form the government and Ernest will take some major position in Pierre lead government, so it will definitely benefit our constituency. "

He added," Ernest regularly met with us in a tough time; being an educated man, he always promotes education which is a good sign for St Lucia ."

Seat: Babonneau Leader name: Ezechiel Joseph UWP Party: UWP Agriculture & fisheries play a pivotal role in St Lucia economy, and the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Natural Resources and Co-operatives and Member of Parliament from Babonneau has not good sign from his own constituency.

Our WIC News reporter, in their ground survey in this constituency, observed that people had lost their crops due to hurricanes and other weather abnormalities, due to which their conditions are very worse.

Constituency members continually urged his own MP for immediate help, but it wouldn't work.

A resident of this seat said," We already lost our lot of businesses due to coronavirus pandemic, and due to natural disaster we also witnessed a lot of weather crises. We felt really hopeless during that time. "

St Lucia elections are day by day challenges, and somehow people are taking as a ray of hope for a better future.
