Trinidad and Tobago: The parents of the two-year-old Xaevi’el Glasgow, who died after being found unconscious in daycare, are demanding answers about the sudden demise of their healthy son.
The child’s father, Jaybril Glasgow, said that he left him along with his brother in the care of a 45-year-old babysitter, Kelly Hope, in Couva on Friday, and when he went to collect both of them, he sensed that something was off.
He mentioned that Kelly’s actions were strange than the usual and she ran into the room to wake up the child but he was not responding. The father added that she handed over the child to him and he found his weight was different and body was stiff which led him to checking his heart rate and pulse but he failed to find one.
The father stated that he panicked and asked her, “You kill my child,” but the woman became alarmed and grabbed the two-year-old, stuck her finger down his throat, and took out rice grains, which were not even chewed.
The father called the medical officers, who rushed the child to the Couva District Health Facility. Several efforts were made to rescue the child, but the medical officials failed and pronounced him dead around 9:03 pm.
Glasgow is a photographer and is attached to the Prime Minister’s Office. He explained that because of work, he and his wife had dropped their children in the woman’s care for the last two months.
However, on Friday, the woman did not even pick up the video call from Glasgow during the evening. The father also disclosed that the woman’s statement about the child’s activities has also changed several times, which makes it sure that she has something to do with his death.
Not only this but the other son of Glasgow, aged 4, was also struck by an object in his eye on the same day and is presently undergoing treatment for the same. And it was only after Xaevi’el’s death that other parents and guardians also started to come forward to say that they were also facing issues at the facility.
