Trinidad and Tobago: The 56-year-old suspect who was allegedly involved in the stabbing death of his 19-year-old son Alex Coombs has surrendered to the Central Division Police. The incident took place on Sunday at their residence in Mcloud Street in Freeport, Trinidad.
According to the information, the suspect surrendered to the Freepost Police Station on Tuesday morning and was anticipated to be handed over to officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three.
The police officials said that on Sunday around 11 pm, Coombs reportedly into an argument over electronic product with his father at their home located in Joseph Drive, Mcleod Trace, Freeport.
The argument immediately increased during which the suspect allegedly got angry and armed himself with a knife following which he stabbed Alex about the body before fleeing the scene.
Meanwhile, other relatives who heard the argument came to check and them and found the victim’s body on a chair outside his home. He was subsequently rushed to the Chaguanas Health Facility, where he was pronounced dead.
The police were also notified and officers of the central division and homicide bureau of investigations, region three responded and went in search of the suspect who surrendered to police two days later.
Reportedly, the suspect was on the run but came to the station himself to surrender and admitted the crime. The mother of the child was also seen lamenting over the suspect who carried out this brutal act just because of his anger.
Moreover, the citizens and residents of Trinidad and Tobago also expressed their anger over the suspect and urged the officials to bring the child to justice.
“Sad, sad situation, saw the video of the boy on top of his mother wrestling with her, don’t know if that or similar incidents triggered the father,” wrote a user named Andy while another user said, “Trinidad is definitely the devil’s play ground. I lived there for abt 2 years and that was the most scariest time of my life…. may god be with the ones who are trying to abide by the law.”
