Snorkeler found dead in Grand Bahama waters

Nassau, Bahamas: A man has died in a suspected drowning incident in the Bahamas. According to the information, after 5 pm on Monday, police retrieved a man’s body from waters on the coast of Grand Bahama. The man was dressed in a ‘dive outfit’ and is thought to have been snorkeling at the time of his death.
While reporting the incident, a police officer revealed that shortly after 5 pm yesterday, police emergency received a call from a concerned citizen of a body floating in waters just east of Islands Resort.
A team of police officers, along with Emergency Medical Services, were dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident. They retrieved the body of an adult male from the water’s edge. He was later examined by EMS, and there were no signs of life or injuries to the body.
The police officer said, “He was dressed in a dive outfit and a pair of maybe snorkeling in the general vicinity. Foul play is not suspected at this time.”
However, the police said that the dead body is lying at the hospital and is awaiting a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of the death.
Information received is that this gentleman may be from the immediate area and inquiries are being conducted. The police are also asking anyone who may have had a loved one who may have been on the beach, snorkelling or diving during last afternoon to report to them as soon as possible.

The incident has caused a wave of shock across the community as this is the second drowning incident reported in one week at the same spot. People are urging the officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the area and find the reasons behind the sudden drownings.
