SKN: Parl Rep Geoffrey Hanley attends PEP Disability Group
Parliament representative from constituency number 1, Dr. Geoffrey Hanely, participated in a PEP Disability Group on Tuesday.

Basseterre, St Kitts, and Nevis: Parliament representative from constituency number 1, Dr. Geoffrey Hanely, participated in a PEP Disability Group on Tuesday.
He referred to the event as an “eye-opening experience,” stated the participants articulated their goals and dreams quite eloquently. He said the participants demonstrated their willingness to join the workforce, with many of them showing strong interest in starting their own business.

PEP Disability Group was an initiative spearheaded under the previous St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party administration under the leadership of Dr. Geoffrey Hanley as the then Director in the Ministry of Youth.
Dr. Hanley stated that he canvassed the island to identify individuals in need of training and provided instruction in various areas, including JAWS Computer Training which allowed the visually impaired to operate the computer and use other programs.

“Art and craft and life skills were also introduced for the benefit of the differently challenged programs,” added Dr. Hanley.
Besides this, Dr. Geoffrey Hanley expressed heartfelt thanks to Desiree Matthew and the committed team of facilitators for the hard work and dedication they continue to exert towards this group.

He quoted the legendary cricketer, Brian Lara, who stated, “disability should not be considered a hindrance to achieving one’s goals.”
Dr. Hanley added, “for those who are eager to engage in public or community service, think about offering your service to the differently challenged people in our various communities. This is how we truly become part of the change in the world that we want to see.”
