Trinidad and Tobago: The swift action of agents from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region II enabled the arrest of a suspect in the triple homicide that occurred in San Juan on Friday.

Officers also recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the murders, as well as six live ammunition cartridges and three used casings. At around 5 pm, first responders received a wireless transmission from the command center regarding heavy explosions at Oudan Trace, Don Miguel Road, San Juan.

A close relative said he was at home in the bathroom when he heard loud explosions.

He came out and saw three family members slumped on the sofa in the living room with gunshot wounds to the back of their heads.

The deceased have been confirmed to be Kumari Kowlessar-Timal, 76, of Dalloway Road, Arima, Radeshka Timal, 48, and Zackary Shrikan David, 21, student, both of Oudan Trace, Don Miguel Road, San Juan.

Acting Police Commissioner McDonald Jacob noted that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Department observed that the recent increase in double and triple murders was linked to domestic and real estate issues.

He said there is a need for access to conflict resolution and mediation services in communities.

Jacob also said that it is difficult to prevent these events when they are rooted in family matters. MP condemns triple murder in Oudan Trace
