Pre-qualification stage of Montserrat's New National Hospital Project complete, opens door for bidders
The Programme Management Office, together with the Montserrat Ministry of Health & Social Services, confirmed that the pre-qualification stage of Montserrat's New National Hospital Project is completed.

With the completion of the first stage, all prequalified bidders will now be invited to provide full tenders for the work before an award of the contract early in 2022.

Earlier this year, the preliminary design stage for the new hospital was completed.

The preferred design option was selected after a rigorous options appraisal process facilitated by the PMO. Approval for the Project to proceed to the detailed design stage was provided by the Montserrat Steering Committee, which oversees investment within the FCDO-funded CIPREG Programme.

The detailed design stage will see further public and expert consultation, as well as the development of all drawings, plans and specifications to move into the construction phase later in 2022 FY.

Martin Parlett, Head of PMO, said: "This is proof positive of our progress towards Montserrat's first fit-for-purpose hospital in more than a quarter-century. "

He also added that "I speak for all when I say we look forward to moving into the detailed design very soon and working with the selected architects, stakeholders, and our funding partners, to craft a secondary healthcare centre which is at the core of the community, responds to current and future needs, and which drives improvement to health and wellbeing for all."
