New US Ambassador Roger Nyhus visits Dominica, discusses resilience & more

The Acting Prime Minister, Dr Irving McIntyre welcomed the new Ambassador of the United States of America Roger F. Nyhus to Dominica for a courtesy call. He visited on Monday and discussed the collaboration between the two countries.
Ambassador Nyhus brings a wealth of experience from the public sector, with a background in security and climate economic development. Earlier this month, he presented his credentials to the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Sylvanie Burton, shortly after being appointed for the position. During the recent meeting, he pledged to maintain a robust collaboration rooted in common values and a commitment in addressing shared challenges. Ambassador Roger F Nyhus also said that their enduring partnership outlines the strength of the mutual understanding as well as friendship between United States and Dominica.[embed]https://twitter.com/SkerritR/status/1762386919340626178[/embed]
In addition to his, Dr McIntyre also conveyed the well wishes of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to the US Ambassador for a successful tour of duty. Notably, PM Skerrit is presently in Guyana to attend the 46th meeting of the Heads of Government of CARICOM.
The recent meeting between the Acting PM and the US Ambassador also saw both leaders’ commitment to continue working with one another as a strategic partner on matters of development and security assistance. Dominica established official relations with the USA in 1978 and since then has been working with the country on several matters of concern.
The meeting underscores the USA’s commitment to Dominica with Ambassador Nyhus looking forward to bringing his Washington State and Chinook Indian Nation values to this new role and partnering closely with Dominica in addressing climate change, enhancing regional security as well as promoting economic prosperity.Ambassador Nyhus was appointed in in November 2023 to serve the Barbados, the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, and St Vincent and the Grenadines. He is on an official work tour to the seven states in the Caribbean, marking his commitment to work continuously with them.
