More than 100 people to get employment at new TDC development: PM Harris

Basseterre, St Kitts, and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr. Timothy Harris announced plans of his administration for 2021 and declared the achievements of 2020.

Dr. Harris stated that St Kitts and Nevis's government succeeded in keeping up with the promise of a $120 million stimulus package to support the citizens during the crisis caused by the tourism sector's shutdown.

Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris emphasized that St Kitts and Nevis offered the most extensive stimulus package in the region. The government also kept all the 9477 employees in different established divisions.

Furthermore, he noted that 1332 government pensioners also received their due entitlements on time, and St Kitts and Nevis government did not borrow a single dollar during the period of crisis.

Prime Minister stated that several private sector projects would start within the first quarter of 2021, resulting in more jobs and economic activity in the Federation.

Dr. Harris stated that TDC has recently launched a residential development, and the construction is expected to commence in a few weeks. He noted the costs of the residences would be ranging from $540,000 for the upscale two-bedroom model.

Prime Minister stated that as per the quotes by the project director, over 100 people will be employed to construct this development, including carpenters, steel welders, masons, painters, and truckers.

He stated that the construction of the cove condominium development project cost $10.8 million is also expected to be completed on 15 February 2021.

Besides this, Prime Minister announced that the first phase of construction of 6 luxury villas would also start in 2021, and each villa costs around USD 1 million each.

Nevertheless, he shared the news of Ross University students' return and stated that over 140 students have already arrived while the return of another 600 students' is anticipated.
