Melissa Skerrit meets Chinese Embassy officials

Dominica: Melissa Poponne Skerrit, Wife of the Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit and Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Central Constituency, recently met with the Chargé d’affaires Luo Songtao.

Also, The Resident Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Martin Charles, was also part of this meeting.

"We then visited a few areas in the Roseau Central Constituency, which proved to be quite fruitful." Melissa Poponne Skerrit said .

Notably, Melissa Skerrit received the first dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine on March 4, 2021, and the second dose on 9 April, 2021.

Mrs Skerrit believed in making relations and loved to engage in the public.

Notably, the Commonwealth of Dominica quietly strengthened its foreign relations with economic giants like China. As per the Dominican Prime Minister, the 2 countries are scheduled to sign visa-free travel agreements this year. Dominica's partnership with China has also begun to several integral infrastructure projects on the island & initiated a large-scale revamp of the healthcare sector.

The people’s Republic of China continually helping Dominica, particularly during the pandemic time.

In order to do that, China sent 20,000 jabs of Sinopherm vaccines to Dominica.

Moreover, Dominica - China friendship hospital plays a significant role in the health sector of Dominica.
