Jamaican cop engages in intimate relationship with 14-year-old, charged

A police official from Jamaica has been reported to have engaged in an intimate relationship with a 14-year-old in Trelawny. The cop has been identified as 44-year-old Dewhyn Brown from the parish.

During the intimate relationship, both of them had sexual intercourse on several occasions. The last time was said to be on February 18, 2022.

According to the reports, the minor's mother went through her phone only to find several messages of a sexual nature between her and the policeman. After seeing the texts, she reported the incident to the police officials, who further ordered a medical examination of the young girl.

The reports from the Falmouth Hospital, Jamaica, revealed that the child has been engaging in a sexual relationship. A medical file was prepared and sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), and a ruling was made for the accused to be charged.

The police officials arrested and charged Browne following these allegations of having sexual relations with a minor. The cop was charged on Monday following a ruling from the DPP.

Officials have disclosed that Dewhyn Brown has been charged with five counts of sexual intercourse with an individual under 16 and five counts of brutal sexual assault.

Several citizens and residents of Jamaica have condemned this incident and urged the police officials to take strict action.

"To serve and protect now become to service and protect, sad thirty years her senior, that's you, granddaughter man," wrote a user named Charmaine Samuels.

Another user called the act 'disgusting' and said a survey needs to be done; why is it that so many older men find it amusing to prey on young girls and younger females? Another user named Patsy Anderson said, "My God, this is so sickening. Instead of protecting the child, you chose to abuse the child. The motto is to protect and serve, not service."

While others also expressed their shock on the man being 44-year-old and still going for a 14-year-old girl.
