EC$11 MILLION drug bust leads to charges
Antigua man due in court TODAY
Charges have been laid after authorities in Antigua found a stash of cocaine with a value of over EC$11 million on Wednesday.
Deon Perkins, 41 and a resident of Hatton, was arrested by officers from the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP) after an anti-drug operation on the Sir George Walter Highway.
A total of 286 bricks of cocaine were discovered, with a combined weight of 336kg (740lbs) was found.
The suspect has been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to supple, being concerned with the supply of cocaine and drug trafficking.
He is due to appear in court today (5 January).
This isn’t Perkin’s first brush with the law.
In June 2014 he was arrested and charged by the ONDCP in connection with another cocaine seizure.
