Dominica: World's Longest Cable Car Project advances with helicopter’s assistance

Dominica: The work on the highly anticipated tourism project 'World's Longest Cable Car' continues at a rapid pace in Dominica, with the crew working on building a road for trucks to pour concrete at Doppelmayr Tower 7. The project has surged ahead with the utilisation of the Black Hawk helicopter and has reached significant milestones in its development.

According to the recent report, the team is working on drilling hole in Doppelmayr Tower 7 for getting foundation stability.

As of March 2024, the construction on the system is well underway with significant progress made in the last five weeks. While giving the information, Project Manager Richard Reedyk said that the work of the Black Hawk helicopter completed on March 22 and it played a significant role in the construction process.

"Over the last five weeks, we've had our Black Hawk helicopter helping us establish this material handling ropeway in the forest. It's been an amazing five weeks, and we've got a lot of work done," he noted.

The Black Hawk helicopter transported the construction material to all the LCS tower stations, helped place concrete, buildings, and towers, and helped the team set up the material handling ropeway for LCS.

Reedyk added that a significant achievement in March was the installation of tower 18, which marked a major milestone for the entire construction process. The tower is located at the top of the line and is essential for enabling the transportation of construction materials to the top station.

This tower has all the necessary guy ropes attached to it and is also equipped with a concrete and metal anchor that will allow the workers to tension that rope and will easily transport the material from bottom to the top station.

In addition to this, the team has also installed the 12-millimeter diameter steel rope from the bottom station to the top station. This steel rope will allow the workers to pull the larger cables necessary for the operation of the material handling ropeway.

The Project Manager further noted that since then, the Black Hawk helicopter has left and the team is now looking forward to working with the Dominicans and the local suppliers and bringing this project to completion.

Cable Car Dominica

The World's Longest Cable Car to the World's Second Largest Boiling Lake is on track. Once completed, the world's longest detachable monocable ropeway will transport individuals from Roseau Valley to Boiling Lake, one of the world's biggest thermal springs.

The cable car, spanning across 6.6 kilometre (4.1 mile) will reduce the time it takes to travel from Roseau Valley to Boiling Lake from six hours to 20 minutes.

The 10 passengers detachable cable car will provide visitors with a fast, reliable and comfortable means of visiting the Boiling Lake in just a few minutes with the visitors getting the chance to enjoy mesmerising views throughout the journey.

Not only this, but the visitors can also enjoy the integrated hospitality and retail facilities emphasising Dominica's unique local characteristics at the bottom station.

On the other hand, individuals can indulge in a variety of cuisines which will be available at the café with a panoramic terrace, a viewing platform, and a six-meter (19-foot) statue of Dominica's national bird, the Sisserou Parrot located at the top station.
