Dominica Jazz n Creole wraps up with spectacular performances, marking huge success

Dominica: The curtains have officially come down to the 13th edition of the highly anticipated Dominica Jazz n Creole Festival. The musical event showcased an impressive lineup of performers on May 5 and turned out a huge success.

People gathered in huge crowds dressed up in colourful attires to compliment the Creole Fusion theme, showcasing their love for the Nature Isle of Dominica. 

The event was a perfect mix of Jazz and Creole music and captivated the audience throughout the night. Performers including the world famous violin queen Mapy, Jamaican reggae artist Alaine and the local music sensation Michele Henderson kept the vibe alive and made the visitors dance to their beats.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit said that he thinks that it has been a good jazz and added that from his perspective, it is not only on the day of the Jazz but the several fringe events which took place in Portsmouth and the vibe which was created there made the event more successful.

PM Skerrit noted that there were many local establishments that hosted the fringe events, and from all reports, they were all very well organized, and that’s what the country had been trying to create where the town of Portsmouth would likely take the ownership of the Jazz and places itself to take better advantage of the several benefits direct and indirect with Jazz. 

The Prime Minister also highlighted that there were more engagements by local business people in Portsmouth this year, with the administration now looking forward to building on this year, and added that he was very happy about that, and it is a chance for everyone to socialise and to interact as well as to make contributions from the various advantage points. 

According to PM Roosevelt Skerrit, the festival must be expanded and noted, “I saw what the Ministry of Tourism did, and I want to commend them for that.” He stated that the placing of fringe events on the calendar helped the festival get a huge promotion, and this was a crucial strategy taken by the Ministry. 

The Dominica leader attributed the huge success of the event to the whole team of the Ministry of Tourism who worked day and night to make first class arrangements for performers as well as visitors. 

In addition to this, the visitors of the event lauded it and said that it was a night to remember.
