Two men have been arrested after a tourist was robbed at gunpoint this morning in Antigua.
Akeem Joseph, 26 and of Liberta, and 32 year-old Jeffery Thomas of Willikies are in custody and are helping police with their investigations.
According to the police, the visitor – whose nationality has not been released – was offered a ride in the pair's van before they took an undisclosed amount of cash.
It isn't clear if the victim got into the van, or the offer of a lift was a distraction for the robbery to take place.
The incident, which took place at the Jolly Beach Hotel in Bolans Village, ended when security staff cornered the duo and police arrived on the scene.
The money has been returned to the victim, and police have recovered the silver Toyota Noah belonging to one of the suspects.
WIC News understands the pair were already known to the police. In a statement, the Royal Police of Antigua and Barbuda commended the "swift action" taken by hotel security.
They encouraged the public to work alongside the police "in the interest of protecting our fragile tourism industry."
