Belize: Teenager drowned in Mopan River, family in shock
A 16-year-old lost his life swimming in the Mopan River in Bullet Tree Village, Belize. As per reports, he went under and never resurfaced. The deceased is identified as Enrique Quiroz. The incident happened over the weekend.

Anya Quiroz older sister of Enrique Quiroz told the media that her mother was known that her brother had gone swimming in the river. He had told his mother that he was just hanging out in the neighbourhood with friends.

"Someone came to our house and said Enrique drowned in the river, it was a shock, we did not believe it, I took it upon myself to go to Bullet Tree Village with the help of my relatives, we reached there and I identified the body and it was my brother," said Anya Quiroz.
She stated that growing up her mother never took them near the river, due to her past experiences because one of their brother almost drowned few years back, however he was rescued.Talking about her brother, Anya stated that Enrique was very friendly, and always hanged out with his friends. She said that her entire family is in shock and they never expected any such thing would happen at such a young age.
