PM Gaston Browne launches Dean Jones from St Georges constituency for general elections 2023

The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and the leader of ABLP, Gaston Browne, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, launched Dean Jones as the parliamentary representative from the St Georges constituency for the upcoming January 18 general elections. The ceremony was held at the Potters Sports Complex, where several supporters of ABLP and Dean Jones gathered and cheered for the party.

The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and the leader of ABLP, Gaston Browne, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, launched Dean Jones as the parliamentary representative from the St Georges constituency for the upcoming January 18 general elections. The ceremony was held at the Potters Sports Complex, where several supporters of ABLP and Dean Jones gathered and cheered for the party.

During the ceremony, PM Browne said that his administration is spending in the constituency of 50 million dollars & Harrison has also given them a grant for this, and the representative will tell the community’s development plans. The plans will include distributing affordable houses to the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

He stated that he wanted to reassure the people of St George’s community that he would continue to work with their representative to construct the socioeconomic infrastructure of this community and appealed to the people to support Dean Jones. He also highlighted the economy and said that the next level is not cliché but is a frontier of development of, prosperity and progress.

He stressed that economic growth means that more jobs will be offered, and the government will earn more revenues. Following this, they could address several issues, like public servants getting huge increases and pensioners getting raises. He said that his administration has several projects and many projects coming in a stream.

PM Gaston Browne emphasized that in the hotel sector, presently, the Halcyon Hotel is being rehabilitated, following which there will be 800 more jobs by November 2023 and Antigua and Barbuda will also have the extension of the sandles to do another 300 jobs by the next tourism season. Additionally, the island of Barbuda has PLH that will create another 400 to 500 permanent jobs.

While stressing the tourism sector, PM Browne said that the global ports have mobilized to create $100 million in tourism and cruise tourism facilities, which means that more jobs will be made as investments are coming, and the good thing is that the government is utilizing the country’s revenue to boost the socio-economic infrastructure of the nation.

He also talked about the recently launched ABLP manifesto 2023 and said that in that manifesto, my government has indicated that it would take healthcare to the next level by establishing the Cardiac unit in which non-invasive procedures will be used to include installation of stats, pacemakers and will also raise the number of kidney transplants that are being executed in the nation as the government will be billing the renal units.

Furthermore, PM Browne asserted that this development has not come by chance but through proper planning, competence as well as visionary leadership. While talking about infrastructure, the leader of ABLP said that the main arteries are being rehabilitated, and when people look at sports, the administration have spent more than $500 million to extend the cargo and cruise ports.

In the end, PM Browne praised Dean Jones and said that he was a man who served this community with distinction for eight & half years. He is a man who comes with several skills to take the constituency of St Georges to the next level of progress & prosperity. He asked the people of St Georges to make the right choice in elections and keep the people like in UPP out of public interest because the opposition has nothing to offer to the people’s constituency.
