US Presidential debate scheduled for October 15 cancelled

The United States Presidential debate scheduled for October 15 has been cancelled, the confirmation from Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) came soon after US President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, opposed this week over the probability of holding the event virtually. In a statement, the CPD stated the debate, which was programmed to take place on October 15 in Miami is no longer taking place. The CPD will turn its concentration to arrangements for the final presidential debate scheduled for October 22,” the commission announced. The generally expected announcement appears after Trump, who tested positive for COVID-19 on October 1 and is supposed to resume campaigning as of Saturday, denied the option of taking a virtual debate. “I’m not conducting to do a virtual debate,” the US president declared in a conversation Thursday with Fox Business Network. The Trump campaign reacted to the news with a declaration declaring there is “no medicinal purpose of stopping the October 15 debate from continuing as scheduled, since the president will be well and prepared to debate”. The Trump campaign announced that it recommended October 22 and 29 as dates for the final two debates. “It’s time for the biased commission to stop defending Biden & stopping voters from hearing from the 2 candidates for president,” the declaration asserted. The Biden campaign, for its part, had recommended that the October 15 town hall be moved a week later “so that the president is not able to avoid accountability”. The former vice president later announced that he would do a solo town hall that same evening.
