The Foreign Minister of Trinidad and Tobago saved a child on a flight by using his medical education. As per reports, Dr Amery Browne was travelling to Rwanda to participate in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, where on a flight from Piarco International Airport to Amsterdam, a child needed medical assistance.
In a post on Facebook, Dr Browne said the captain made an announcement, asking if there were any doctors on board, and he was the only medical doctor present.
Following that, Browne put his medical skills into action to support the child and save the child. He said the KLM airline had a very well-equipped medical kit on board.
"I executed a program of half-hourly checks on the baby during the transatlantic flight, with reporting via the cockpit radio to a KLM specialist in Schiphol Airport," said Dr Browne.
He stated that the baby is now safe in Amsterdam, while his mother was pleased and thankful to see that the Trinidad and Tobago delegation was on board to save her kid.
The extraordinary efforts of the Trinidadian Foreign Minister made him gain so much positive publicity on social media. His gesture is receiving a kind response from people not just from the country but from around the world. His Facebook post alone received more than 500 shares, two thousand likes and hundreds of comments from people lauding his response and gesture on the flight to save the child.
A user named Semoy Piggott wrote,"Dr Amery Browne. This is the epitome of empathy and true love for humanity. You should be an honorary godfather to that baby,".
Asha Umrawsingh wrote, "This is just wonderful, Amery! There are some skills that never leave us. It's a credit to those who taught us. KLM staff are just the best. Found this out in a similar way to you from Amsterdam to POS. Be blessed,"
"Amidst all our difficulties, you are a blessing to T&T, and a lot of us recognise this. We need a lot more politicians with genuine love and concern for T&T and its people. It's lacking badly. Thank you," wrote a user named Davan Ramrattan.
Notably, Minister Browne is a medical doctor. However, due to his political career, he had not been practising his skills. But his years of experience came in handy when the kid needed support on the flight.
