People seeking work permit in St Kitts and Nevis must comply with Labour Laws: PM Harris
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Timothy Harris announced that all individuals seeking work permits must comply with the existing labour laws in the country. He said an employer who wishes to bring a foreigner must send an application to the National Security.  PM made the remarks during the first conference held by him in 2022.  He stated that individuals seeking international employees must have advertised for the vacancy in the local jurisdictions at least for three consecutive weeks.  He stated that if any entities fail to comply with the Federation's current labour regulations, they will be held accountable. "We will rigorously adhere to that criterion in order to ensure that our residents and nationals here have a fair chance to profit from any vacancies that may arise in our twin-island space," he said. Prime Minister Harris said the government intends to ensure that all citizens are given a fair chance. He also urged people to go out and seek work as soon as it becomes available, rather than waiting for the perfect job. "My message to young people is that while there is no such thing as a perfect job, there is such a thing as a perfect opportunity to work.I'm appealing to all people and parents who have children at home who don't want that job, who don't want to start, to push them to do something, no matter how small or insignificant, because honest work is good work and should be promoted," he said. "They may stay in your house for a very long time if they wait for the perfect job," Prime Minister Harris continued. He stated that it is essential for young people to gain some experience, work, and build relevant abilities that may be utilised elsewhere until the ideal chance presents itself.
