Johnson and Wickham's contradictory findings confusing people in SKN

As the parliamentary elections of St Kitts and Nevis are approaching, political parties are hiring pollsters to conduct surveys on the twin-island nation.

St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party hired Bill Johnson while Team Unity assigned the job to Peter Wickham.

Veteran pollsters Bill Johnson surveyed in December 2019 with a sample consisting of three hundred voters from each constituency, and on the other hand, Peter Wickham took a sample of only hundred people per constituency.

The findings of Bill Johnson suggested the victory of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party with seven out of total eleven seats. Johnson stated on a radio talk show that his poll would provide a more accurate picture on the ground considering the larger sample size.

Furthermore, Bill Johnson stated that the results are regardless of who is paying him. "If the other party hired me, the results would have remained similar to what it is now."

The US-born pollster who now resides in Jamaica also stated that his team asked people about the things they like or dislike about the Prime Minister and no particular questions were asked.

Backing the findings of his survey, Bill Johnson stated that he and his team conducted the study during holiday time in Decemeber (Christmas) where employees were paid double salaries but chose to vote in favour of the SKNLP which is a makes the findings influential.

Speaking about the major issues concerning the people, Johnson said this time crime is not a problem, but Prime Minister Timothy Harris' programme of paying the gangsters is affecting the voters. Besides this, the support of PM Timothy Harris to his family is another prominent issue as he is appointing his family to the top positions of government.

Moreover, Johnson stated that from his experience of Caribbean elections, if the government is well aware of its victory in general electiongs, then the elections are announced within the time i.e in January of 2020, but in St Kitts and Nevis, Team Unity is resisting from doing so, which clearly reveals that they are not expecting to win this time.

The polls conducted by pollster favouring team unity is presenting contradictory results and affirming another victory of the current government.

Young pollster Peter Wickham addressed the voters on Freedom FM 106.5 where he discussed the findings of his surveys in St Kitts and Nevis.

Wickham supported his findings by saying that he carries a discrete manner of surveys than of veteran Bill Johnson which makes his (Wickham's) results more accurate than of Johnsons.

Answering questions of smaller sample size, Wickham said: "I have problem with pollsters that comes from Jamaica, Johnson is not familiar with intermediate details of methodologies, but I have no intentions of getting into a battle about who is a better pollster, but our methodology is more transparent."

Moreover, Wickham added that answers are often contradictory when two individuals are committed to performing likewise as per their methodologies.

Pollster Bill Johnson and Peter Wickham are well-known for their polling surveys and are often accurate with their results; however; this time contradictory findings are confusing the voters and political personalities in St Kitts and Nevis.
