Saint George's, Grenada: Tuning with other Caribbean countries to support the United States, European Union and United Kingdom against Russian invasion, Grenada has also announced strict restrictions against Russian nationals seeking economic citizenship.
The Grenada government, on March 10, 2022, declared the official suspension of the acceptance of new applications from Russia and Belarus for the Citizenship by Investment programme with immediate effect.
The official statement read, "The (Grenada) government is closely monitoring the current situation in Ukraine and will advise of any further changes to its current policy on this matter."
Earlier, Antigua and Barbuda, The Commonwealth of Dominica, St Kitts and Nevis and St Lucia had announced strict restrictions against Russian nationals with a complete ban on applications from Russia and diaspora from processing the citizenship applications.
Caribbean island countries are standing in solidarity with Ukraine; around 141 nations voted for the UN resolution against Russian aggression in Ukraine. The ballot included all major Eastern Caribbean nations such as Dominica, Barbados, St Lucia, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines. The majority of Caribbean countries offering Citizenship by Investment Programmes placed an interim closure of processing of applications from Russia and Belarus due to security and safety situations.
