Who gets what: SKN Government ministries announced

Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris has again picked his closest coalition partner Shawn Richards as Deputy Prime Minister in the new government. Along with the position of Prime Minister, Dr Timothy Harris will be Minister of Finance, National Security, Sustainable Development, Constituency Empowerment, and Human Resource Management and Information.

After the landslide victory of Team Unity in St Kitts and Nevis on June 5 General Elections, The Cabinet Administration was sworn-in on June 14. Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris has again picked his closest coalition partner Shawn Richards as Deputy Prime Minister in the new government. Along with the position of Prime Minister, Dr Timothy Harris will be Minister of Finance, National Security, Sustainable Development, Constituency Empowerment, and Human Resource Management and Information.

Whereas, leader of People’s Action Movement Shawn Richards is appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Infrastructure, Utilities, Posts and Urban Development. The Premiere of Nevis and political leader of Concerned Citizens’ Movement, Mark Brantley retains his position in the cabinet as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Civil Aviation.

Another CCM member, Alexis Jeffers, will be Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources. PAM’s Lindsay Grant will retain his position as Minister of Tourism, Transport and Ports.

Eugene Hamilton of PAM is now assigned with the new role of Minister of Human Settlement, National Health Insurance, Social Security, Ecclesiastical Affairs, Social Development and Gender Affairs. CCM’s Eric Evelyn will be Minister of Environment and Cooperatives, and PAM’s newly elected Jonel Powell is given the responsibility of Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture, whereas, PLP’s Akilah Byron-Nisbett is Minister of Health, ICT, Entertainment, Entrepreneurship and Talent Development.

Apart from this, Wendy Phipps will be Minister of International Trade, Industry, Commerce, Consumer Affairs and Labour. Vincent Byron Jr will retain his position as Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs.

PM Harris made a statement on his social media handle after the swearing-in ceremony of his cabinet colleagues, “It gives me great pleasure to welcome the members of my new Team Unity Cabinet who have taken the Oath of Allegiance to HRH The Queen and who have sworn to uphold the Constitution of St. Kitts and Nevis in service to the people of this blessed Federation.”
