After the letter went viral, the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) and Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley questioned how the letter went viral.
"From the GG office to the PM office, everything is being leaked. Our country has a leaking problem and desperately needs a good plumber," said Premier Brantley.
Governor General Tapley Seaton responded to the majority of elected representatives stating that under the constitution, no power resides in the Governor General to remove Prime Minister Timothy Harris. He stated that he is unable to accede to their request to appoint another Minister instead.
No confirmation has come from the Office of the Governor-General or any of the 7 MPs as to the validity of the letter as published on social media. The letter confirms what most have already concluded, and that is the Governor General, in fact, does not have that power as outlined in the constitution. The constitution speaks to naming a Prime Minister only after that position becomes or is vacant. At the moment, there is absolutely no vacancy in the seat of the Prime Minister.
