Jamaica PM Andrew Holness meets US VP Kamala Harris
Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness met the Vice President of United States, Kamala Harris.

"Our discussions were very productive as we affirmed our shared commitment to increase cooperation for the mutual benefit of Jamaica and the United States," said PM Holness.

The areas of cooperation discussed include violence prevention through intelligence and information sharing and investment in violence reduction programmes targeting at-risk youth, human capacity development, particularly in relation to cyber security and digital technology, energy, and infrastructure.Jamaican Prime Minister stated that he is deeply encouraged by the feedback from VP Harris, who committed funding to several areas-
1. Expansion of Commerce and Trade
2. Support for our health sector and our Covid-19 recovery efforts
3. Regional energy security
4. Violence reduction programme targeting at-risk youth
VP Harris expressed agreement for the establishment of a working group between Jamaica and the US to discuss issues unique to Jamaica and to continue the dialogue.
"I thank the VP for prioritizing this meeting with Jamaica, and I welcome her announcements to provide greater support through investments," said Jamaica Andrew Holness
Prime Minister Holness is currently on a four-day visit to the United States, and he will return to Jamaica on 3 April 2022. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang, is in charge of the government for the time being.
He was also interviewed on Great Day Washington on Channel 9/WUSA with hosts Kristen Berset-Harris and Ellen Bryan, where he said Jamaica has a great place in the world in terms of assertiveness.
PM Holness stated that Jamaica is a loud voice for climate-change, and endorsed the Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
