Dominica records 97 new COVID cases while 1857 recovered

The Ministry of Health Wellness and New Health Investment of Dominica revealed over 1857 people have successfully recovered from COVID-19.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Health Wellness and New Health Investment of Dominica revealed that over 1857 people have successfully recovered from COVID-19 in the country. The officials said over 182 had been discharged from medical facilities.

Dominica also recorded additional 97 new COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday.

As per reports, there are only 417 active cases of coronavirus islandwide, out of which 397 were diagnosed through Antigen testing and 20 with the RT-PCR testing method. The COVID-19 related deaths have also risen to six.

Since 2020, the country has recorded only 2280 coronavirus cases. The majority of the cases were reported after July 2021. The authorities successfully tested 57,762 people for COVID-19.

The government have fastened their COVID-19 testing drive. Windsor Park Sports Stadium has been turned into a "drive-thru testing location" where people can simply enter with their vehicles and pass down to the testing point. The new method is utilized to minimize the contact between medical professionals and the public; it also minimizes queues.

The vaccination drive in Dominica is also fastened up. As per the data released by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment, 22,920 people received their first dose of vaccines, while around 20,464 are fully vaccinated against the contagious virus.

The Health Ministry is also using more innovative ideas to encourage vaccines in the country. Now, offices and organizations can contact officials, who will then visit with the doses at their workplace.
