Farmers Protest at New Delhi, India
New Delhi, India: In order to drown in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat on December 27, several farmer leaders appealed to people in the country to bang utensils on Sunday in protest against three Farm Laws introduced by Modi led government. Addressing a press conference, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Jagjit Singh Dalewala appealed to people to bang the utensils across the country during PM Modi's Mann Ki Baat radio programme, in the same way, the Prime Minister called everyone to bang utensils for coronavirus. "On December 27, the Prime Minister will speak on his radio Programme Mann Ki Baat. The same way the PM asked the country to bang utensils for Corona, we appeal to the whole country to bang the utensils in your homes throughout during his radio programme to drown out his Mann Ki Baat." quoted Jagjit Singh Dalewala.

Jagjit Singh Dalewala also said that farmers would stop toll collection on highways in Haryana from December 25 to 27.

Meanwhile, farmers also staged a one-day cumulative hunger strike on Monday in protest against Centre's farm laws.

Swaraj India chief Yogendra Yadav, who was part of the press conference on the Singhu border had said farmers would launch a one-day hunger strike on Wednesday at all places against the new farm laws.

Five Trinamool Congress MPs on Wednesday met farmers sitting on a relay hunger strike at the Singhu border near Delhi. A 5-member delegation including Derek O'Brien, Satbadi Roy, Prasoon Banerjee, Pratima Mondal and MD Nadimul Haq met and interacted with the farmers on the Singhu border to show solidarity.

TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also spoke to the protesting farmers over the phone and assured them of their full support. Talking to Mamta, the farmers reiterated their demand that the Center should repeal the farmers' laws.

Thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab and Haryana, have been protesting Centre's agricultural laws and demanding the repeal of legislators for the last four weeks at various border points in Delhi.
