In the most recent episode of Anou Palay, Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit discussed the newly established programme of the government. To shred more details on the topic, parliamentary representative from St Joseph, Dr Adis King joined him.

Prime Minister Dr Skerrit stated that the government has launched a social-cash transfer system programme to provide temporary income support to eligible vulnerable individuals and families whose income is impacted because of the COVID-19 crisis.

Dr Skerrit added that this initiative would assist people in addressing their basic needs, including food, health, education and other necessary requirements.

Prime Minister asserted that this new plan is complimenting the pre-existing social programme that targets to help the elderly, women, youth and unemployed.

Dr Skerrit stated that he wants to support and assist the youth in investing in new properties as well as building their own homes, and the home owner's grant would give support to them.

"In 2020 new budged, I announced new measures to encourage citizens to build their own homes, which included the reduction in the land transfer fee to encourage the young people to invest in the purchase of properties and construction of homes," added Dr Skerrit.

As per the leader, 1.5 million dollars is set aside to support young Dominicans under the age of forty years with a grant of $10,000. The annual income of these individuals must be less than one thousand dollars.
