Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit and the Commonwealth of Dominica delegation were, given an official tour of the Fidel Castro Center, which opened in November 2021.
The Center is part of the commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the death of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution.
After Fidel Castro’s death in 2016, the Cuban Parliament prohibited, by law, the use of his name and figure in public squares and monuments. The Center was created under a provision, on an exceptional basis, to dedicate a place for the study of his life’s work and thought, which would bear his name.
It comprises a 190-seat theatre, an exhibition hall and an outdoor space built from rocks from the Rio La Plata, a river originating in the mountains where Castro established his first command post in 1958 as head of the rebel army.
The Dominican Prime Minister is currently on a three-day visit to Cuba. He reached on Sunday evening. He will also receive the Order of José Martí during a ceremony at the Palace of the Revolution (Palacio de la Revolución) in Havana.Latest
