Dominica govt officially reopens Wills Strathmore Stevens Primary School
The government of Dominica officially opened the Wills Strathmore Stevens Primary School on Friday. The school was reconstructed at the cost of EC$2.1 million as part of the Climate Resilience and Restoration Project with financing from the Government of Canada through the Caribbean Development Bank and the Government of Dominica.

The government of Dominica is making efforts to uplift the education sector in the country. The Wills Strathmore school is equipped with modern technology, and bolters advanced learning techniques such as an upgraded classroom block, auditorium, computer lab & library, kitchen, cafeteria, guidance & counselling room and washroom facilities.

Besides this, there is also a new early childhood education centre and administrative building.

While on 11 May, the government officially commissioned rehabilitated Delices Primary School and Morne Jaune Primary School.

The rehabilitation of these schools is part of the government's pledge to provide resilient school infrastructure after the 2017 Hurricane Maria. The natural disaster affected 90 percent of the total infrastructure in the country, causing massive destruction to livelihoods.

Education Minister of Dominica Octavia Alfred stated that the government is working towards bringing new initiatives in the education sector in the coming months.

The Dominica Grammar School is also receiving a facelift which will set it apart from other educational buildings in Dominica. The restoration started in April 2022, and is expected to complete by 2024. The renovations will modernize the structure to achieve harmony with the new building.
