Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit meets PAHO Director Dr Etienne
Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, met the director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr Carissa Etienne.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, met the director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr Carissa Etienne, on Friday. She is leading a delegation to Dominica this week.
The PAHO team is in Dominica to conduct a retreat with the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment to assist with the development of a strategic plan for the more effective delivery of healthcare in the country, among other activities.
Prime Minister Skerrit also thanked Dr Etienne for her exceptional leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I thanked her for PAHO's continuing support of our health system through training, mobilization of resources and technical assistance," said Roosevelt Skerrit.
Dr Etienne was accompanied by Dr Godfrey Xuereb, Head of Country and Subregional Cooperation at PAHO and Country Program Officer for Dominica Anneke Wilson.

Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) helped Dominica in delivering coronavirus vaccines. Dominica helped deepen and enhance this strategy, as well as make significant systemic changes that place primary health care at the heart of the country's efforts to improve health and well-being. With the help of PAHO, Dominica was able to contain the infection of coronavirus. In November 2021, PAHO donated two buses, vaccine carriers, nebulizers & several other medical supplies to the country. The supplies also included 20 oxygen tanks to strengthen the country's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. PAHO also helped Dominica in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017 and assisted in the prevention of any viral outbreaks during the catastrophe.Latest
