WATCH: Dominica's postponed post-Hurricane Maria daily briefing

Watch coverage of the daily press briefing from Roseau, Dominica.

Yesterday's briefing was cancelled due to a clash with the funeral of a former parliamentarian.

Each day these media events focus on one particular area of the island's post-Hurricane Maria recovery efforts.

Today the press briefing discussed physical planning.

Speakers were chief physical planner Kelvin Rolle, private contractor and engineer Tony Burnette, and Luciean Blackmoore, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Housing.

On Tuesday the head of Dominica Air and Sea Ports Authority, Benoit Bardouille, gave a full update on access to the island by plane and ship. And before that the prime minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, addressed the nation to announce plans to kickstart the country's economy after the category five storm's devastation.

Yesterday Discover Dominica tourism authority announced that the island's World Creole Music Festival has been cancelled due to the damage to the island.

People who had purchased tickets are able to get refunds. No scheduled act has commented on the news yet.

The tourism industry in the island, still suffering the effects of Tropical Storm Erika in 2015, has been shattered by Hurricane Maria. A WIC News reporter, who was on the ground when the hurricane made landfall, said many hotels – including Fort Young in the capital – had been "flattened".
