UWP launches candidate for Salybia Constituency

Days after the Dominica Labour Party launched its candidate for Salybia constituency, the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) has also managed to get a candidate for the same constituency. Anette Thomas-Sandford is set to represent UWP in upcoming general elections 2019/2020 from the Salybia constituency which falls under the Kalinago Territory.

During a press briefing at Public Service Union Building in Roseau, UWP’s Dr Worrel Sanford launched Anette Sanford by saying that she will be a better candidate than him. It is to be mentioned that Dr Worrel Sanford had declared his step back from General Elections in July and UWP was looking since then for a candidate.

Anette Sanford is Wife of UWP Senator Claudius Sanford, she said “I will work along with Kalinago chief to bring development across my constituency.”

The UWP took pace after DLP leader and Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit said on Sunday that Salybia constituency for the opposition party is disparaging as they aren’t even able to find a person to represent Kalinago people in the upcoming elections. PM also added that the seat is of least interest by UWP and they will never look after the Kalinago people after elections take place.
