As a proud member of the Chinook Indian Nation, Ambassador Nyhus commissioned this feather to honor the enduring partnership and friendship between the United States and Dominica. The gift was presented to PM Skerrit during a brief interaction held during the sidelines of the 4th edition of the Small Island Developing States conference being held in Antigua and Barbuda. Ambassador Nyhus has always been keen to strengthen U.S.’s partnership with the Caribbean countries and since his appointment in November 2023, he has been a strong and unwavering advocate for Americans in seven dynamic, independent democratic nations in the Caribbean. In addition to this, he noted that regional security in the Eastern Caribbean is one of his highest priorities as Ambassador and felt proud that Embassy Bridgetown and the U.S. Coast Guard teamed up to provide enhanced security during the ongoing SIDS conference.
The U.S. Ambassador is conducting brief and significant engagements with the leaders of the Caribbean countries to better understand them and build strong partnership between U.S. and the region.
