Trinidad welcomes Silver Dawn on inaugural cruise call with 570 passengers

Trinidad and Tobago: The Port of Spain in Trinidad welcomed the luxurious cruise Silver Dawn on Friday on its inaugural call. The cruise arrived with around 570 passengers from Europe, the US, Indonesia, New Zealand, Canada, Australia and more. Of these passengers, around 425 opted to enjoy pre-booked tours all over the island, to some of the local favourites, including the Caroni Bird Sanctuary, the Botanical Gardens, Maracas Beach, Asa Wright Nature Centre, Paramin La Vigie Lookout and many more. To welcome the cruise on its maiden call, the Ministry of Tourism of Trinidad and Tobago hosted an official crest exchange ceremony on board the vessel to commemorate this significant milestone. While welcoming the cruise, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Martel Waldron, honoured the ship’s captain, Kostiantyn Doroshenko and the crew while wishing them an enjoyable stay and speedy return to Trinidad. The officials included Deputy Permanent Secretary Martel Waldron (Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts Trinidad & Tobago), Tourism Trinidad Chairman Cliff Hamilton, and CEO Carla Cupid, along with City Corporation Councillor Esther Sylvester, Manager – Cruise Shipping Terris Taylor and Shipping Agent Charles Carvalho. The day was regarded as really good for the island nation’s tourism sector with the Silver Dawn at Port of Spain, Trinidad, while the Star Pride and Marella Voyage is at Tobago. The arrival of three cruises on a single day showcases the increased presence of the small island among international cruise liners. Meanwhile, the Ministry has also reiterated its commitment to showcase the island’s unique culture and natural beauty to visitors from around the world, which will attract them to arrive again on the island for vacation with friends and family. The Tourism Ministry, in collaboration with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, is working continuously to partner with as many cruise lines as possible, aiming to boost the island’s presence among discerning travellers.
