Trinidad and Tobago records 9 deaths and 348 new cases in 24-hours
Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday reported 9 additional coronavirus deaths and 348 new cases.

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday reported 9 additional coronavirus deaths and 348 new cases. The People's National Movement (PNM) ruling party of the country sent out condolences to the families on the passing of their beloved members.
The government called on all citizens to do their part and exercise extreme caution by wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing and avoiding unnecessary outings and meetings.
Since 2020, Trinidad and Tobago have recorded 220 coronavirus-related fatalities and 13,802 confirmed cases. Not only that, currently, there are 4,078 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
Health Ministry reported that while 335 people are being treated at hospitals, there are also 3,318 patients in self-isolation at homes and 425 at state quarantine facilities.
Vaccine drive
As per the Ministry of health, 60,245 people have received their first dose of the vaccine while 1100 individuals took their second dose. The government of Trinidad and Tobago received 33,600 doses of the Oxford Astrazeneca vaccine from the COVAX facility in a second delivery on Monday morning. The country had received a batch of 33,600 doses from COVAX on March 30 and had previously got 2,000 doses from Barbados and 40,000 from India. A total of 100,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from China are also anticipated to be received.Restrictions continue
The government of Trinidad and Tobago have imposed several restrictions prohibiting gathers, reopening of non-essential places, closure of restaurants. Wearing a face mask in public is also mandatory.
