Trinidad and Tobago: A Mother and Son became the victims after getting allegedly robbed by a group of five men on Saturday Morning (January 20) on Picadilly Street in Port of Spain.
As per the reports, the incident occurred around 11 AM, when a mother and her son from San Fernando went to Port of Spain to meet a virtual friend whom they recently connected with on Facebook.
While the victims were on their way in a four-wheeler, they were unexpectedly confronted by a group of five unknown men who approached them and asked them to hold up and relieve their three air-conditioning units and a cellular phone.
However, in a defensive approach, when the mother tried to save herself and her son from the robbers, she was brutally beaten by one of the men from the group. The suspects then fled away from the scene immediately.
After the incident, the authorities were called, and the woman was taken for medical treatment. The officials have been closely looking into the matter and maintained some details hidden for security and investigative purposes.
While in an ongoing investigation, it has been revealed that the victims met their virtual friend for assistance in making arrangements to install an air conditioning unit.
Meanwhile, several users from social media handles expressed sadness and concern about the incident, how good people nowadays deal with such issues.
In contrast, others bashed on Police and the authorities for their ineffective assistance in ensuring the security of nation's people's.
A user named Tishon Moore said in the comment section, "What madness I now read here...... steps ayuh carry on yes, cause like alyuh harden. Just as it has good people out here, it has bad. But I am not willing to chance it. No."
Another user, Edwin Whiteman, mentioned, "It is most unfortunate that they were robbed but even worse assaulted, but how? How, in this day and age, are people still arranging to meet people all over the place, especially in those areas? So easy to lose their lives, and they won't learn."
