Student drowns after 'falling into river while fishing in Trelawny'

Saturday, 29th February 2020

A 16-year old Trelawny student drowned when he fell into a waterway where he was fishing alongside a group of boys on Thursday.

The boy has been distinguished as 16-year-old Jonathan Eccleston of Perth Town, Trelawny.

Eccleston was a grade 11 student at William Knibb Memorial High School in Trelawny.

The Falmouth police revealed that a gathering of young men was angling at a waterway in Perth Town when Eccleston fell into the water. Endeavours made by his companions to save him were fruitless.

The episode remarkably happened during the two-day mid-term break from school after Ash Wednesday.

A quest for his body on Thursday must be called recently that night without progress.

In any case, the body was recuperated after the resumption of the inquiry on Friday morning.

Individuals led the hunt from the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) Coast Guard, the Marine Police and the Falmouth Fire Station.
