Saturday, 14th August 2021
PM Pierre further explained that persons previously arrested, charged and convicted for violations of the COVID-19 protocol will remove their records. An appeal was made to persuade citizens and encourage them to comply with the protocol guidelines instead of threatening and punishing them. The Prime Minister has indicated that he understands the struggle of many people, who are called to do things that are not taken for granted, and therefore there must be compassion and empathy. Let us together as a nation, with determination, commit ourselves to the regular washing and disinfection of hands, social distance, the wearing of masks in public spaces and the avoidance of large crowds.
"COVID-19 remains present after being with us for over a year. I am aware that it has been a difficult period for many of you. I want to assure all Saint Lucians, that your Government cares, and will continue to put your health, safety, and well-being first.
We are mindful of the sacrifices that you have made but we must continue to follow the COVID-19 protocols and get vaccinated. It is the only way to get through this.
Have a safe weekend my sisters and brothers. You are in my every thought, deed and prayer!" said PM Pierre.
“For those who are still reluctant to take the vaccine, we ask you to reconsider your position, seek medical advice and protect our country from this deadly virus by taking the vaccine. Together we can do it; let us do this for the benefit of ourselves and the country,” said PM Pierre. The adapted COVID -19 protocols will be in force from 13 to 31 August 2021 to reduce the threat levels for the people of Saint Lucia.
