St Kitts: New Basserre Ferry Terminal set for opening
Hopes for improvement in logistics
Tuesday, 5th December 2017
The new Basseterre Ferry Terminal is due to open tomorrow afternoon in a ceremony expected to draw senior political figures.
According to a release from the government, the new building will “enhance the comfort and safety of passengers travelling between St Kitts and Nevis, and to other neighbouring islands”.
An opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 3pm AST.
The new terminal will seat up to 75 people.
According to Denzil James, chief executive officer of the St Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority, the structure will improve logistics and safety in terms of passenger flow.
This is because departing passengers will not be released from inside the terminal until arriving passengers would have already cleared the pier.
WIC News understands that Ian Liburd, minister of transport and public infrastructure, is among those expected at the opening.[yop_poll id="1"]
