St Kitts and Nevis: The officials of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force have launched a thorough investigation into two separate shooting incidents which claimed the lives of two individuals.

According to the sources, the incidents occurred on Sunday night and resulted because of some personal disputes. None of these incidents showcase any threat to the tourists or general public.

The reports stated that the first one took place on Sunday night near the Basseterre Bus and Ferry Terminal. During this incident, Alex Harris, aged 33, was shot dead by an armed assailant as he directly approached him.

The police officials immediately responded to the event, but because of the serious injuries to the victim, he died on the scene.

The second incident took place two hours after the first one, in which a gunman is said to have walked into a bar located in Parson’s Village and started firing. The shooting resulted in the death of Rashiel James, aged 37, while Leshawn Hazel, aged 30, sustained a minor injury to his leg.

The police officials rushed both victims to the nearby hospital in an attempt to save them, but James also succumbed to his injuries on the way because of his injuries.

Meanwhile, the incidents are being actively investigated with the authorities taking all the steps to ensure that such events are not tolerated in St Kitts and Nevis. The sources have also revealed that all the CCTVs installed near the crime scenes will be checked to find the identities of the suspects and bring justice to the victims. On the other hand, the sources have reported that the preliminary investigations suggested that both of these cases arose from personal disputes and were not in any way meant to attack the tourists. The officials have also been taking all those steps which will ensure the safety and security of all the residents and visitors. The steps include the heightened security forces across the island and the installation of more CCTVs to make sure that no such event could occur.

It is also to be noted that St Kitts and Nevis is one of the safest countries in the Caribbean region as its crime rate is much lesser than other nations such as Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Guyana, Haiti, Bahamas and Dominican Republic, to name a few.
