“They have delivered us the finest project,” said Prime Minister Harris. Apart from this, he further counted the accomplishments of Team Unity in their tenure of past seven-years.
The families received the house keys during the ceremony scheduled for Friday, February 18, 2022, at 4 in the evening. The ceremony was conducted just two weeks after the Government of St Kitts and Nevis distributed 20 houses to the residents of the Stapleton community in St Peter’s through the National Housing Corporation (NHC).
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris, Parliamentary Representative of the area, and the Minister of Human Settlement – Eugene Hamilton. Both influential leaders addressed the residents and shared remarks.
These Petrocasas houses were donated by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Government of St Kitts and Nevis under the Petrocaribe arrangement. Petrocasas houses are constructed from the by-products of Venezuela’s oil refining industry, as the word (petrocasas) loosely translates ‘oil houses.’To build the petrocasas, PVC panels are fitted together on a concrete base and then filled with concrete, steel, as well as iron girders.
